Walter Strauss

RSVP

“Michael Hedges meets Bruce Cockburn and together they steal Ry Cooder’s smoking jacket...”

Blame it on Rawlins, Wyoming. Fingerstyle guitar wizard Walter Strauss was born out there in the big open, and was seduced to look to the vast spaces of the American West for his musical inspiration. But while rooted in American folk forms, Walter’s music evokes far reaches of the globe as well. He’s worked with musicians from West Africa to Australia and Finland, and successfully weaves world beat, Americana, and jazz into a brand uniquely his own. . .

During our first year at Boney Mountain, we brought you some of the best talent based in the LA area. We have John Batdorf to thank for that. For our second year, we are expanding a bit. I attended the Far-West Folk Alliance conference in November and heard a lot of amazing artists. If you have an old school concept of folk music, you may be very surprised by what is going on in that world these days. The music crosses many genres and the quality is unbelievable. The three acts above represent the best of the best. You are not going to want to miss any of them.

By the way, there will also be a concert in October. Date and Artist coming very soon.
